National Petroleum Museum
Ploiești, Prahova
The National Petroleum Museum is in Ploiești, Prahova County, on Doctor Bagdazar Street. Opened in 1961, the museum traces the history of oil extraction and refining in Romania. Large machinery is displayed in the courtyard, while the halls hold documents, models and instruments.
Among the exhibits are wooden and metal drilling rigs, oil lanterns, rock samples and geological maps. One section is dedicated to the researcher Lazăr Edeleanu and his refining process. The patents, photographs and correspondence document the connection between scientific research and the development of the oil industry.
