Nativity of the Mother of God Church in Câmpulung Moldovenesc

Câmpulung Moldovenesc, Suceava

The Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God in Câmpulung Moldovenesc is a wooden church built between 1855 and 1857 and consecrated on May 5, 1858. The walls were built of fir beams, placed on a plinth of river stone. The wooden cladding, the broad roof and the towers that rise above it make up the distinct appearance of the church.

On the same site there was an older church from 1751. With the growth of the community, it became too small and was dismantled, then given to the parish of Bucșoaia, in 1855. The current church occupied the freed place, continuing to use it for services. The visit allows the observation of a religious construction made entirely of wood, preserved inside a Bucovina town.
