Neamț Fortress
Târgu Neamț, Neamț County
Neamț Citadel, from Târgu Neamț, is one of the landmarks of the medieval history of Moldavia. It was strengthened during the time of Stephen the Great and served for defense, as a refuge and as a place to keep the treasure.
After the restoration of 2007-2008, a permanent exhibition was opened in the fortress rooms in 2009. The visit goes through the courtyard and through these rooms, where the museum installations show how life was organized in the citadel. The Citadel is managed by the Neamț Citadel Museum, which announces the schedule and conditions for visiting.
