Neptune Baths in Băile Herculane

Băile Herculane, Caraș-Severin

Băile Neptun is located on the bank of the Cerna, on Izvorului Street in Băile Herculane. The establishment was built between 1883 and 1886 according to the plans of the architect Alpár Ignác, on a narrow plot of land between the river and the slope. The central domed pavilion, exposed brick and facade decoration preserve the image of spa architecture from the end of the nineteenth century.

Also known as Szapáry Baths or Queen Maria Baths, the buildings housed rooms for various spa procedures. Today, the monument is in need of consolidation and restoration, and the interior is not open for visits. The facades can be seen from nearby public areas; respect the fences and local restrictions, and do not enter the deteriorated building.
