Norocea House

Curtea de Argeș, Argeș

Casa Norocea in Curtea de Argeș houses the ethnography and art section of the Municipal Museum. It was built in the 1920s for the painter and restorer Dumitru Norocea, known for his work on the frescoes of the Princely Church. The architecture reinterprets the traditional Muscel house, with tall volumes, a porch and wooden details.

The exhibition brings together folk costumes, textiles and objects related to households and crafts in Argeș. The art gallery features works by Norocea from the interwar period, especially oil paintings on canvas. His interest in drawing is also represented by pencil works, alongside copies of personal documents. The house thus preserves both the memory of the artist and examples of rural culture from Argeș.
