Fear of hospitals
Hospitals cause an excessive fear in people with nosocomephobia, a name that comes from the Greek nosokomeion, “hospital”. Former US President Richard Nixon allegedly refused treatment for a blood clot in 1974, saying that if he went into the hospital, he would never come out alive.
