The movie "Once Upon a Time in America" 1984

A remarkable epic story about a group of young Jewish gangsters from New York who survived Prohibition. They reunite after 35 years and try to save themselves. The film can also be seen as the story of a man at war with himself. David „Noodles” Aaronson (de Niro) is a savage, merciless criminal, yet also loving and warm. At the center of his inner conflict is Deborah, the woman he loves, who tries to change him. Although she is the only pure and sincere thing in his life, Noodles does not hesitate to rape her when she wants to leave him. Thus, Once Upon a Time in America is more than a film with and about gangsters: it also offers an analytical examination of Noodles' soul. Awards: 1985 Golden Globe nomination—score, Ennio Morricone; 1985 Golden Globe nomination—director, Sergio Leone.
