Outlaws' Grotto in Băile Herculane

Băile Herculane, Caraș-Severin

The Bandits' Cave, also known as the Thieves' Cave, is located on the slope near the Roman Hotel in Băile Herculane. The entrance opens into the limestone cliff above the resort's built-up area. The place also has archaeological importance, through the traces of prehistoric habitation discovered here, but visitors experience it as a natural cave.

The grotto appears in the tourist routes presented by the administration of the Domogled–Valea Cernei National Park, along with the paths to the gazebos and other points on the slope. Being close to the town, it can be included in a nature walk; wear shoes suitable for rocky, wet ground. At the entrance, follow the signs and any restrictions, and do not explore the dark passages without the necessary equipment.
