Pocahontas

The heroine of the 1995 Disney film is loosely based on Pocahontas (1596–1617), the daughter of the Native American chief Powhatan. In the film she falls in love with the English settler John Smith and is torn between her father, who wants to drive the settlers out, and her wish to help them. She is the seventh Disney Princess and the first based on a real person; she is voiced by Native American actress Irene Bedard.
