Poiana Uzului Lake

Lake Poiana Uzului lies upstream of the town of Dărmănești, Bacău County, on the Uz River. The reservoir sits between ridges of the Nemira and Ciuc Mountains. It was created in 1970, in a basin where the old village of Poiana Uzului used to stand.
The dam is easy to recognize by the row of buttresses that support it. The shores follow the foot of the wooded slopes, and the lake narrows toward the valley upstream. The dam was built to a design led by the engineer Radu Prișcu. The reservoir supplies drinking and industrial water to the towns in the Trotuș Valley.
