Polovragi Cave

Polovragi Cave is located in Polovragi commune, Gorj County, at the entrance to the Olteț Gorge. The main gallery runs mostly horizontally, and the show section is lit and fitted out for visitors. Inside you can see limestone formations and traces of the water that shaped the cavity. The cave is also linked to local legends about Zalmoxis, told to visitors as stories of the place. The visit can be combined with a stop at Polovragi Monastery and a walk along the accessible sections of the gorge. The administrator publishes the conditions for entering the cave.
