Princely Court and Precista Church in Bacău

Bacău, Bacău

The Princely Court of Bacău preserves traces of a medieval residence linked to the family of Stephen the Great. The ensemble includes the vestiges of the princely house, the tower and the Precista Church. The house and tower were built in the years 1476–1478, and the church was later founded by Alexander, the ruler's son. The dedicatory inscription dates the completion of the work on January 1, 1491.

The church is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and is built of stone and brick, in the Moldavian architecture of the era of Stephen the Great. It is the preserved part of the ensemble, next to the vestiges of the residence. The visit brings together, in the same place, the ruins of the courtyard and the medieval church still used for worship.
