Princely Inn in Suceava
The Princely Inn in Suceava houses the ethnographic museum of the National Museum of Bucovina, on Ciprian Porumbescu street. The exhibition on the ground floor recreates the atmosphere of an inn from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, where merchants, officials and other travelers used to stay. Fabrics, ceramics and objects related to transport and hunting are presented in the rooms. Stoves and other means of heating are part of the reconstruction of the interior, along with the pieces that illustrate the life of the inn's guests.
The building has a long museum history: the first permanent exhibition of ethnography was opened here in 1968. On the first floor, parts of the organization on the areas of Fălticeni, Humor, Dorna, Rădăuți, Câmpulung Moldovenesc and Suceava are preserved. Costumes and fabrics can be traced through differences in color, decoration and technique. The presentation of the ground floor, in the form of an inn, was completed in 2003.
