Putna Waterfall

Lepșa, Vrancea

The Putna waterfall is located near Lepșa, in Tulnici commune, Vrancea county, in a rocky sector of the Putna river. The water descends through a succession of rock steps and channels dug into the rock, then collects in a deep pool, framed by the valley walls.

The waterfall was declared a natural monument in 1973 and is included in the Putna–Vrancea Natural Park. Downstream, traces of an old water route are also preserved, which remained suspended after the modification of the bed. The rocks, rapids and forms of erosion make up a sector of the river that is different from the wide portions of the surroundings.
