Râmeț Gorge

Trascău Mountains, Alba

Râmeț Gorge is located in the Trascău Mountains, in Alba County, near the Râmeț Monastery. The water carved a narrow valley between limestone walls, shaping towers, caves and ridges. At the base of the cliffs there are forests, meadows and areas of scree.

The area is protected for its landforms and for the species that live here. The Geoagiu Valley crosses the Uzmezeu and Fundoi limestone massifs. Upstream is the village of Cheia, part of the commune of Râmeț, and downstream the water continues towards Valea Mănăstirii.
