Râmeț Monastery

Valea Mănăstirii, Alba

Râmeț Monastery is located in Alba county, on Valea Mănăstirii, at the entrance to the gorge of the same name. The complex preserves the old stone church, along with later buildings and a newer church. The cliffs of the Trascău Mountains frame the valley in which the monastery is located.

The old church preserves several layers of murals, including one dated 1377 and attributed to the painter Mihu of Crișul Alb. The former school houses a museum of the monastery. The old church is dedicated to the Nativity of the Mother of God and the Healing Spring.
