International superstar Dwayne Johnson plays a primatologist who habitually keeps people at a distance. Davis Okoye (Dwayne Johnson) shares just one special bond: with George, an exceptionally intelligent gorilla he has cared for since birth. When a genetic experiment goes wrong, the gentle animal becomes an enormous, violent beast. Things grow truly dramatic when other animals with similar mutations are discovered. As these new predators devastate North America, Okoye teams up with a discredited genetic engineer to find an antidote, while trying to prevent a global catastrophe and save the creature that was once his friend.
