Red Church in Arad
The Red Church in Arad is located on Revoluției Boulevard and is named after the decorative brick that covers its walls. The Lutheran church was built in 1906 according to the plans of the architect Lajos Szántay. The neo-Gothic silhouette, the pointed tower and the decorated portal make it easy to identify among the buildings of the center.
The main tower reaches about 46 meters, and the high windows and vertical edges emphasize the slender form of the construction. Inside there is a rectangular altar and an electropneumatic organ made in Timișoara. The church is a landmark of the Arad Protestant community and religious architecture from the beginning of the twentieth century. The exterior can be viewed from the boulevard, while access to the interior follows the parish’s conditions and respects services and other religious activities.
