Red Water Springs

Băile Tușnad, Harghita

The Apa Roșie springs, Veresvíz in Hungarian, are located on the northern edge of Băile Tușnad. The name comes from the reddish deposits of limonite, an iron mineral, that form around the water.

Over time, the minerals have formed porous crusts in which traces of plants can be seen. The main spring flows from a mushroom-shaped structure, easy to recognize.
