Reformed Church in Acâș

Acâș, Satu Mare

The Reformed Church in Acâș, Satu Mare County, is a Romanesque basilica from the first half of the thirteenth century. The church originally belonged to a Benedictine monastery, and after the spread of the Reformation it became the church of the reformed community in the village.

The western facade is framed by two towers, and the interior has a nave and two aisles separated by massive pillars. Exposed brickwork, arched windows and rows of decorative arches give the building its characteristic appearance. The restoration led by the architect Frigyes Schulek at the end of the nineteenth century sought to preserve the Romanesque forms of the monument.
