Rupea Fortress
Rupea, Brașov County
Rupea Citadel can be seen from afar on the road between Brașov and Sighisoara, built on a hill above the town of Rupea, in Brașov county. It is documented in 1324 and gradually expanded on the top and the slope of the hill.
It has three parts, each with its own walls: the upper fortress, the middle fortress and the lower fortress. Between the walls were dwellings, warehouses, administrative quarters and a well. The visit means climbing through the three enclosures, and from above you can see the city and the surrounding hills.
