Saint Charalambos Church in Turnu Măgurele
Saint Charalambos Church stands on Independenței Street, in the center of Turnu Măgurele. The current building was erected at the beginning of the twentieth century and finished in 1905. The three towers, the arcaded porch and the stone decoration are reminiscent of the architecture of the cathedral in Curtea de Argeș, which served as a model for the project.
The facades are divided by a twisted decorative band, and the windows have frames with geometric and floral motifs. Inside are the murals by Eugeniu Voinescu and Romeo Girolamo, the limewood iconostasis and the stained glass windows. The church serves Saint Charalambos parish, so visits to the interior depend on the schedule of services.
