Saint George Church in Răhău

Răhău, Alba

The Church of Saint George in Răhău is located in the village of the same name, part of the municipality of Sebeș. The church was built between 1793 and 1804, and its original painted decoration was made in 1815 by the painter Vasile of Săliște. It was consecrated in 1836, on its patron saint's day, by Bishop Vasile Moga of Transylvania.

The church in the cemetery has a tower with a pointed roof and an elongated nave. The interior was repainted in 1996–1997 by Gheorghe Bondoc. Further work, begun after 2012, included restoring the steeple and replacing the roof, and the church was reconsecrated in 2022. The church is used by the Orthodox parish in Răhău, so access to the interior depends on the parish's schedule.
