Saint Nicholas Church in Câmpulung Moldovenesc

Câmpulung Moldovenesc, Suceava

The Church of Saint Nicholas in Câmpulung Moldovenesc was built between 1887 and 1896, with the blessing of Metropolitan Silvestru Morariu Andrievici. Prince Rudolf, who was visiting Bucovina, participated in the laying of the foundation stone. The construction of the building was supported by the Religious Church Fund of Bucovina and community donations.

The building has a trefoil cross plan and neo-Byzantine architecture. The light-colored facades, the rounded volumes of the apses and the group of towers give it an easily recognizable silhouette. From the outside you can see the proportions of the church and the way the towers frame the central body. The place retains its function as the parish church of the Orthodox community in the city.
