Saint Nicholas Church in Densuș

The Church of Saint Nicholas is located in the village of Densuș, Hunedoara county, in Țara Hațegului. The medieval building uses blocks, columns and other stone pieces taken from Roman buildings. The stone roofs and the tower raised above the nave give it an unusual silhouette.

Inside, the pillars and walls retain inscriptions and reused ancient elements. The murals include fifteenth-century fragments linked to the painter Ștefan and to the artistic tradition of the region. It is surrounded by the churchyard and the village cemetery, and the church is still used for services.
