Saint Nicholas Church in Galați

The Saint Nicholas Church on Ion Creangă Street in Galați was built between 1839 and 1845. Between 1878 and 1917 it was the cathedral of the Lower Danube Diocese.
In its place there was a monastery where Patriarch Atanasie Patelarie served for 11 years, after the Turks expelled him from Constantinople. The church is a historical monument.
