Saint Stephen the Great Monastery on Bolovanu
The Saint Stephen the Great Monastery is located on the Bolovanu mountain, above the Slănic Valley. Construction of the monastery began in 1999, at the initiative of Vasile Gavrilă, and the following year the community was formed. The large church was built starting in 2003 and consecrated on July 2, 2006, the patron saint's day.
The complex also includes a winter church, dedicated to the Annunciation. The founder and his wife are buried in the large church. The access road starts in Cerdac, a village within Slănic-Moldova, on the road that goes up to Bolovanu. Check the condition of this mountain road before travelling, especially after rain or during the colder months.
