Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church in Cioboteni
The Roman Catholic Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Cioboteni rises on a slope in the northeast of the municipality of Miercurea Ciuc. From the parish house, access to the church follows a covered staircase. The current church was built between 1795 and 1805, also using the stone of the old medieval church. The tower preserved from the previous construction and the enclosure wall mark the entrance to the complex.
The interior has murals made in 1911 by Brassai Károly. Under the vaults appear Saint Peter, King David with a harp and the four evangelists. Archaeological research has revealed traces of an older stone church, visible in a delimited area near the Chapel of the Passion of Jesus. The parish has a role in the Pentecost pilgrimage from Șumuleu, also receiving groups of Csángós from Moldavia.
