Saints Peter and Paul Serbian Church in Arad
The Serbian Church of Saints Peter and Paul is located in the Serbian Square in Arad, at number 1. The Orthodox church is linked to Captain Jovan Popović Tekelija and the families of the Serbian border guards settled in the city. The restoration in 1790 gave it baroque forms with rococo accents, visible in the silhouette of the tower and in the decoration of the facades.
The church preserves testimonies about the communities that defended and developed the city on Mureș. Among its objects are old flags of the Arad guilds and Mureș border guards from the first half of the eighteenth century. Its location in the historic square allows observation of the exterior and its connection with the surrounding streets. To enter the church and to find out which objects can be seen, check access with the parish, respecting the services and the rules of the community.
