Salt Museum in Slănic

Slănic, Prahova

The Salt Museum is in Casa Cămărășiei, at 23 August Street no. 19 in Slănic, an eighteenth-century building that was once the salt mine’s office. The museum opened on August 30, 1978.

The exhibition shows how salt deposits were formed, how salt was extracted and processed, and what role it plays in people's lives. Virtual reality headsets and 3D images are used, and one section shows the rare plants that grow on the surrounding salty soils.
