Samos

Samos

Greece
Separated from the coast of Turkey by a strait just 1.6 km wide, Samos is a Greek island in the eastern Aegean Sea. It is the birthplace of the mathematician Pythagoras, and the town of Pythagoreion and the Heraion temple, together with the ancient Eupalinian aqueduct, are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Samian wine was famous in ancient times and is still made on the island.
