Šarplaninac
North Macedonia and Serbia
The Šarplaninac is a herding dog from the Šar Mountains (Šar Planina), in the Balkans, robust, heavily boned and thick, long and rather coarse fur, usually iron-grey. The standard describes it as balanced, reliable, protective, but does not bite without reason, incorruptible and devoted to the master.
