Sihăstria Monastery
Vânători-Neamț, Neamț
Sihăstria Monastery is in Vânători-Neamț commune, Neamț County, in a wooded valley near Secu Monastery. Its beginnings are linked to the hermits who settled here in the seventeenth century. The current churches and buildings were erected and rebuilt in several stages.
The grounds include the Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God, chapels, monks’ cells and the bell tower. The monastery is also known for its connection with Father Cleopa Ilie, who lived here in the twentieth century. The cemetery and the memorial rooms preserve mementoes of the lives of the monastery’s spiritual fathers.
