Simian House Art Museum

Râmnicu Vâlcea, Vâlcea

The Casa Simian Art Museum in Râmnicu Vâlcea is located on Carol I street no. 25, in the villa built in 1940 for the Simian family, who had a shoe factory in the city. The house was designed by the architects Gheorghe Simotta and Nicolae Lupu, and a new building for the art gallery was added next to it.

The permanent exhibition includes Romanian painting and sculpture, from Nicolae Grigorescu and Theodor Pallady to Ion Țuculescu and Corneliu Baba, plus sculptures by George Apostu and Ovidiu Maitec. The royal doors of the Govora Monastery, from 1497, are also preserved here, and in the summer the city's artists exhibit in the inner courtyard.
