Slovak Cuvac
Slovakia
The Slovak Čuvač (Slovenský čuvač) is a large, white mountain dog from Slovakia, used for centuries as a shepherd and guardian of flocks in the Tatra mountains, but also as a guard of farms and borders. The FCI standard describes him as boundlessly faithful and brave, always ready to chase away any intruder, even bears and wolves. According to an old tradition, it is bred only white, to distinguish it from wild animals at night.
