Știrbey Palace in Buftea

Buftea, Ilfov

Știrbey Palace stands in Buftea, Ilfov County, on an estate with a park and old trees. Construction was begun in 1850 by Prince Barbu Dimitrie Știrbei and continued by his descendants. The palace’s towers and facades show Tudor-style influences.

The estate also includes the Holy Trinity Chapel, a water tower and the shores of Lake Buftea. During the First World War, the palace sheltered Queen Marie, and later the negotiations for the Peace of Buftea were held here.
