Sucevița Monastery
The Sucevița monastery, from the commune of the same name in Suceava county, has the appearance of a fortress, with high walls and towers at the corners. The "Resurrection of the Lord" church, built by the Movilești family at the end of the sixteenth century, is included in the UNESCO world heritage for its mural painting.
On the northern wall you can see the Staircase of the Virtues, one of the most famous scenes of the ensemble. The green of the frescoes, the open porches and the spire above the roof distinguish the church in the fortified courtyard. Cells and historical buildings are preserved in the premises, and the monastery's collections include embroideries, manuscripts and religious objects.
