Suțu Palace

Bucharest

The Suțu Palace is located in Bucharest's University Square and houses the Bucharest City Museum. The residence was built between 1833 and 1835 for Costache Grigore Suțu, according to the plans of the architects Conrad Schwink and Johann Veit. The turrets and neo-Gothic facades distinguish it from the newer buildings around it.

Inside, the staircase that splits into two arms and the large mirror brought from Murano stand out. The interior was remodeled in the nineteenth century with the involvement of the sculptor Karl Storck. The museum's halls combine the history of the city with the decor of an aristocratic Bucharest residence.
