Synagogue in Mediaș
Mediaș, Sibiu
The synagogue in Mediaș was built in 1896 in the historic center of the city, at the edge of the medieval walls. Next to it is the Rabbi's House and the Jewish school building, which has a ritual bath (mikvah) in the basement.
The school and the ritual bath were paid for by Benjamin Czitron, the president of the community. The first rabbi of the city was David Bäumel, who came from Bohemia.
