Tâmpa

Brașov, Brașov

Tâmpa rises above the historic center of Brașov and belongs to the Postăvaru massif, in Brașov county. The forested slopes and limestone cliffs are visible from the Council Square and the streets of the old citadel. From the upper slopes there is a view over the rooftops, the Black Church and the city's districts.

Part of the mountain is a nature reserve, with forests, meadows and rare plants adapted to the rocky terrain. At its foot, sections of Brașov's medieval walls and promenade paths survive. On the summit stood the fortifications of the Brașovia citadel, whose remains link the mountain to the history of the city's defense.
