Teleki-Bolyai Library
Târgu Mureș, Mureș
The Teleki-Bolyai Library is located in Târgu Mureș, Mureș County. Its core is the collection of Count Sámuel Teleki, who in the early nineteenth century set up a space for books and reading. The building combines rooms of the former aristocratic residence with the library halls.
The great hall preserves wooden shelves and galleries with old volumes. The holdings include incunabula, rare editions and scientific works, later combined with the Bolyai library and other Transylvanian collections. The books, the furniture and the layout of the hall show how a scholarly library open to the public was conceived.
