Teleorman County Museum

Alexandria, Teleorman

The Teleorman County Museum in Alexandria presents the history and ethnography of the county, in a building on 1848 street. The institution started as a city museum in 1952 and developed its collections through archaeological research, acquisitions and donations from the localities of the Teleorman and Vedea valleys.

The collections include ceramics and prehistoric figurines, Geto-Dacian objects, coins and treasures discovered in the county. The ethnography section brings together folk wear, fabrics, tools and household objects. The discoveries from Vitănești, Măgura and Zimnicea link the exhibitions to the settlements and necropolises researched by archaeologists in the south of the country.
