Thassos
Greece
Thassos (Thasos) is the northernmost major Greek island, in the northern Aegean Sea, linked by ferries to Keramoti and Kavala. In ancient times it was known for its gold mines, wine, nuts and marble, and the old marble quarries at Aliki, in the south, are now abandoned. The capital, Limenas, is home to the island's Archaeological Museum.
