Finney Shaw, a shy but intelligent 13-year-old boy, is kidnapped by a sadistic killer and imprisoned in a soundproof basement, where screaming does nothing to help him. When a disconnected phone mounted on the wall starts ringing, Finney discovers he can hear the voices of the killer's previous victims. And they're out to make sure what happened to them doesn't happen to Finney.
