The Godfather: Part II

The movie "The Godfather: Part II" 1974

1974 - Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, Robert De Niro, John Cazale
In what is undoubtedly one of the best film sequels of all time, Francis Ford Coppola continues the epic story of The Godfather trilogy with this tale of two generations of the Corleone family in power. Coppola once again collaborates with writer Mario Puzo, crafting two interwoven stories that serve equally as a prequel and a sequel to the original. The first depicts the Sicilian clan's humble beginnings and the young Don Vito's rise in New York, now played by Robert De Niro in an Oscar-winning supporting role. The second follows the rise of Michael (Al Pacino), the clan's new Don. Reuniting many of the actors who worked on The Godfather, Coppola produced a film of astonishing scale and vision. The production was nominated for 11 Academy Awards and won six, including Best Picture for 1974.
