In 1862, 13 years after the Great Famine, Lib Wright (Florence Pugh), a nurse from England trained at the Nightingale School, is called to the Midlands, Ireland, by a religious group to observe a member of the community for 15 days. Anna O'Donnell (Kíla Lord Cassidy) is an 11-year-old girl who claims she hasn't eaten for four months, but miraculously survived with "manna from heaven". Anna's condition rapidly deteriorates and Lib is determined to find out the truth, questioning the faith of a community that would rather keep their religious beliefs.
