Three Holy Hierarchs Monastery

The Monastery of the Three Holy Hierarchs stands on Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt Boulevard in Iași, Iași County. The church was built between 1637 and 1639 by Prince Vasile Lupu. Its facades are covered almost entirely with bands of carved stone with geometric and plant motifs.
The twisted decorative bands, arches and carved ornaments form tiers that wrap around the building. The monument was designed as a princely burial church and remains linked to the founder's family. The church also holds the tombs of Dimitrie Cantemir and Alexandru Ioan Cuza, brought here after they died abroad.
