Transfiguration Church in Hunedoara
The Transfiguration Church in Hunedoara is located on Popa Șapcă street, in an area with old traditions of the Orthodox community. Built between 1797 and 1800, the masonry church replaced a more modest place of worship. The entrance tower and the elongated body of the building form the main landmarks of the exterior, which can be seen from the courtyard.
The history of the parish also records the connection with the city's iron factories: they contributed to the production of furniture in the interwar period. The building is a historic monument and continues to be used for services. For the interior, the visit must match the parish schedule; building works and religious activities may influence access.
