The TV show "True Blood"

Vampires have transformed overnight from legendary monsters into ordinary citizens, thanks to a Japanese scientist who invented synthetic blood. Although humans are no longer on the menu, they remain wary of vampires coming out of their coffins. Religious leaders and world officials have chosen sides, but the small town of Bon Temps, Louisiana, has yet to decide. Waitress Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) knows exactly what it means to be an outsider. Cursed with the ability to hear people's thoughts, she welcomes vampire integration, especially when it comes to Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), an attractive 173-year-old vampire wandering the world. But as Sookie becomes caught in mysteries surrounding Bill's arrival in Bon Temps, her tolerance is put to the test.
