Tulcea

Tulcea is the seat of the county of the same name, in Dobrogea. Monument Hill holds the remains of Aegyssus, a fortress built in the late fourth century BC. It served a military role in Roman times and became an episcopal seat in the sixth century. Its remains can be seen near the History and Archaeology Museum.
